From Washington: A memorial service was held to honor law enforcement officers who died in the line of duty. The service commemorated the 25th anniversary of a tragic event and paid tribute to officers who lost their lives. Hundreds of officers have died due to toxic exposure from that day, in addition to 72 who died responding to the attacks.

The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial bears the names of 595 fallen officers. A reading of their names took place during the service.
