A mosquito trap has yielded a positive test result for West Nile virus. This is not the first time the trap has produced such a result. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention notes that West Nile virus is typically transmitted through mosquito bites. Most people infected with the virus do not exhibit symptoms, though some may become ill.

Treatment of the area surrounding the trap is planned. A quarter-mile radius will be targeted for treatment on two consecutive days.
