State officials are working to track down and eradicate an invasive species to protect honeybees and the agriculture industry. The invasive species, Yellow-Legged Hornets, pose a significant threat. This month, over 1,000 of these hornets were found, along with 60 nests.

Efforts to combat the hornets include deploying new traps and checking existing ones. State personnel have set up 48 new traps and inspected nearly 8,000 that were already in place.

Further information on the invasive species and efforts to eradicate it is available, including what to do if one is spotted and the impact on the state's agriculture industry.
