A domestic dispute in Coweta County turned into a hostage situation on Tuesday. Deputies from the Coweta County Sheriff's Office responded to a home on Highway 154 after a report of a physical assault on a 14-year-old relative. The suspect, a Newnan man, was holding the teenager hostage.

The sheriff's office used SWAT and drone teams, along with assistance from Georgia State Patrol SWAT, to respond to the situation. Hostage negotiators were also involved in the effort to resolve the standoff. The suspect was taken into custody after the teenager escaped the home when the suspect fell asleep.

The suspect was booked into custody, but further details on the incident and charges are available from the Coweta County Sheriff's Office.
