A man has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl who was walking to school. The girl had missed her bus and was walking along Hickory Road when, deputies said, the man pulled over and coaxed her into his vehicle. Deputies believe he then took her to a location where the alleged assault occurred; she was afterward dropped off near school. The girl provided a description of the vehicle to law enforcement, which used license plate reader technology to locate a matching vehicle and identify the suspect. The man, Saymond Sookram, faces several charges including aggravated child molestation and trafficking a person for sexual servitude.
