From Bismarck, N.D.: Archaeologists have made a significant discovery at a governor's residence, finding seven coffins with human remains and an additional wooden box. The discovery was made after a monthslong investigation, during which crews inspected over 80 flagged spots.

The investigation began on May 19, when contractors first uncovered remains and coffin hardware while excavating on the property. Construction work was paused, and a radar scan was conducted, followed by a dig that started on September 1.

Further details about the discovery are available, including the conclusion of fieldwork on September 14.
